Summer Fun

The weather has been very hot so far this June, but we have had fun playing indoors. Got some great shots of him happily playing on his mat the other day.

Also took some pictures of him on the couch. He looks so big to me now!

Lastly some shots of me with my sweet boy later that evening. :)

Johnny Jump-Up

Beth loaned us this Johnny Jump-Up and Nathaniel loves it. He bounces and bounces and bounces. These are pics of the first time he was in it, and he is a little unsure about it. By now he is a pro, and in fact bounced up against the door frame today and scraped some paint off the frame due to vigorous jumping. Will thinks these do not adequately show his love for the jump-up, so we'll have to get some more pics.

Also wanted to include these pics we snapped one evening after he got through eating. This is just such a funny expression, the way his hand is resting against his head, like, "Oh my, I just ate wayyyy too much." Actually I think I've seen Will do this same pose before on Thanksgiving.

5 Month Pictures in Chair - Memorial Day

So hard to believe that my baby is 5 months old already! Memorial Day was his 5-month birthday. I sat down and we took lots of pictures in his chair. Actually I was surprised at how many I took - but a lot of them turned out well, so I've posted quite a few. It was amazing to me how many different poses he made this time.

 Intently studying his toes

Touching his toes for the first time!

Leaning down to look at giraffe

Leaning even further on his own -
he can sit up by himself for a litle bit now.

 Grabbing giraffe by the tail

 A few giggles

 Hiding from the camera

 Looking at his name

Holding giraffe in a headlock with his legs

 So happy!

Playing some with Dad

Overall a great Memorial Day!

Dexterity and Dogs

Just wanted to make a note on how his hand dexterity has improved. The other day he snatched my keys from me while we were running errands, and that's only the beginning! While shopping at Kroger he was intent on grabbing my coupons while I looked through them. He actually got ahold of one and crumbled it up. He's now pretty good at holding anything and moving it up to his mouth to taste it.

As far as the dogs go, he is fascinated by Annie and Otis. Every time they saunter by, Nathaniel's smile lights up his whole face. He especially loves Annie, I think because she's closer to his size. Actually, Nathaniel may weigh more than Annie at this point. :) Anyways, I will try to get a picture of it, because it is so sweet. Of course the dogs have no idea that they are local celebrities.

Dallas trip - Marianne's wedding

Last weekend we traveled to Dallas for Will's cousin Marianne's wedding. We hadn't seen some of this side of the family in quite some time, so it was great to be able to go. Marianne looked beautiful in her dress and the wedding was lovely. Nathaniel did so well the whole weekend - especially at the wedding. He made it through the ceremony and the reception until they cut the cake. And that was way past his bedtime. You can tell he's getting tired in a couple of these pictures.

They got married in a beautiful chapel over 100 years old.

I loved Marianne's dress.

I really like this one of the 3 of us.
We rarely have our family together in 1 shot!

Kristy and Laney with Nathaniel and I. We were so excited to get to see them 2 weekends this month!

Will's dad Bill and Will's uncle Bert

One of the exciting parts of the weekend was staying with our great friends Kelli and Joe Dan. They are terrific hosts and we had such a wonderful time. I got some great shots of Kelli and Nathaniel Sunday morning.

I love the smiles on both their faces.

 This one is terrific.

 Nathaniel had lots of fun.

Look at the huge smile on Nathaniel's face while he spends time with Joe Dan. Joe Dan had to sneak some quality time in while Kelli was still asleep. As you can tell, Nathaniel had a blast and was loved on the entire weekend.

Saturday for lunch Kelli and Joe Dan took us to Blue Mesa. It was fantastic. Kelli and Joe Dan have terrific taste in food.

Kelli is also a wonderful chef. This is homemade ice cream she started on Saturday and we ate Sunday before we left. The caramel sauce was also made from scratch and SOO good.

Friday night we all went out for sushi at Sake Toro. Oh my, it was delicious. For all of our sushi friends I have included this website so that you can check out the menu if you get a chance. If you're ever in the DFW area I highly suggest you try it.

One other funny sidenote from the trip - Will kept saying how great the traffic was in Dallas compared to Houston. He was very pleased at how easy it was for us to get around. Also, Nathaniel did much better in the car this time.

Unfortunately the wedding was the same weekend that our friend Brad graduated from UT with his doctorate in Civil Engineering. We are so proud of him. We're very disappointed we missed the graduation. Here is a picture of Brad with his family. And yes, the other big news is that Brad and Rheagan also celebrated the birth of their second child, Liesl, the same week Brad graduated! We can't wait to meet Liesl. Their son Isaac is adorable as well.

 Congrats Brad!
