Strawberry Festival and last day of soccer

We had his last soccer practice (it was a scrimmage) and then later that day we went to the Strawberry Festival, which is basically a carnival. This first picture is from the week before, but I had to add it because it looks like he is close to the ball.

We let him ride this little train. He told us the next day it was his favorite part.

Water fun

We were at a party a couple of weeks ago, and I couldn't resist a few shots because someone looked so cute in the pool.

Keels and Wheels

A couple of weeks ago I got free tickets to a car and boat show, so we made a day out of it. The weather was unseasonably cool for May.

You can barely see his head sticking up!

Will loved this car

Last Day of School

Yesterday was the last day of school. It seems like this year just flew by.

These are a few of my favorite crafts he made this year. An Easter bunny and the Christmas train.

Some of his end-of-the-year crafts we took home. A few of these were displayed in the gym where we ate dinner. If I had been thinking I could have taken a picture of it hanging on the wall.

And now hello summer!

Overheard

We have so many funny conversations each day, but I rarely have a chance to write any down.

- A couple of weeks ago, we were coloring with markers and then I notice Nathaniel is making orange dots on his foot. I ask what he is doing, and he tells me he's making freckles.

-This morning he was playing with a friend with his Noah's Ark little people, and I heard him exclaim "No, leave the roof (of the ark) open! They have to get out of the ark to see the rainbow!" So cute.

-We were shopping at Kroger and while I ordered some lunch meat, he picked up a carton of cubed cheese to ask me if we could buy it. As he picked it up, the lid flew off and cubed cheese was flung everywhere. Nathaniel was very sweet and helped me pick up all of the cheese. We found a trash can and disposed of all of the cheese on the floor. Unfortunately, the container was now missing half of the cheese. It was only a couple of dollars, so I asked the employee if we should just buy it, but she nicely said that she would take care of it.

-Right before Easter I was driving him to school, and Nathaniel yelled from the backseat "Jesus is Alive!" It was really funny and I can't believe I forgot to blog about it. They had been talking about Easter in Chapel.

-We've been having some rain lately, and I had to turn on the windshield wipers. Nathaniel thought they were so funny. He had a big belly laugh about them. Then he saw a car that had a wiper that was wiping the back window of the car and he told me we needed a back wiper as well.

-This has happened to me also, but happened to Neena when she was here. We were eating dinner, and Nathaniel said "Neena I love you so much." Neena very sweetly said that she loved him too. Then Nathaniel said, "Don't talk while you are chewing."

Our sweet boy keeps us hopping every day! He's so much fun and such a blessing.

Visit with Neena and Pops

We had a good visit with Neena and Pops last weekend. Here we are at the park:

And here's Daddy and Annie relaxing:

Neena got to watch Nathaniel play soccer. They scrimmaged and it was so funny. Nathaniel kept running up to his teammates and hugging them. None of them really got the concept but it was funny. When the ball finally came near Nathaniel we yelled "Get it!" and he picked it up with his hands. Guess we should yell "kick it" from now on.

You can't really see him here but Coach Taylor is restraining him. Or trying to keep him still. Coach Taylor told him he could get a lollipop if he kicked the ball, but we didn't get one this time. Note - this is obviously not a serious soccer league. :)

Here's a couple of videos with my phone - note this is an experiement for me.

Fun at home

This first picture isn't very good, it's just one of Nathaniel playing with his remote-controlled train. But he was wearing a sweatshirt, and it was the first weekend in May. That rarely happens here! I think we set a record low.

I bought paper towels at Sam's, and thought it would be fun if we spent some time building with the paper towels before I stored all of them in the pantry.

It was a lot of fun! But then started jumping on them and smashing them, so it was time to be done.

The drag strip

Will and Nathaniel had a "guys" afternoon a couple of Fridays ago. They went to the drag strip to look at cars and watch the races. Here he is eating his peanut butter sandwich (because he was too excited to eat it before he left).

Will said that he really wanted in this little go-cart . . . don't guess I blame him!
