Christmas Time!

We got to play in snow for the 3rd Christmas vacation in a row! Nathaniel loves the snow and playing in snow. It only stuck around for a few days, but we enjoyed it while we could.

Playing and Parties

Someone has been busy being a firefighter lately. I ring a little bell and he pretends to put on all of his stuff and "fights the fire."

Last week he was at a friend's birthday party. I had to take a few shots because he was having so much fun.

They even had a little sailboat for the kids to play in. Nathaniel really enjoyed it.

Cold Weather

We've had some cold weather in December. Last week we decided to play at the park anyways. Nathaniel had fun, mommy got a bit cold.

I made some green chili stew on one of the cold nights. It turned out great and hit the spot.

Last one is the hot wheels track we constructed. I am improving my mechanical skills!

Pumpkin Pictures

I know these are late, but I have a pile of photos that aren't digital and I have to scan in. These are his pumpkin pictures with his class at school.

Here's a link to last year's pumpkin photos. They're such big kids this year!

Funny Nathaniel Sayings

A couple of weeks ago as we pass by the cows on the road we have this conversation:

Nathaniel: "What do mommy and daddy cows drink?"
Me (after thought): "Water?"
Nathaniel: "No, I don't think so. I think they drink milk."
Me: "How do they get the milk?"
Nathaniel (exasperated voice): "Humans get it for them."

Last Sunday I was putting him down for a nap. He found 2 Christmas penguins that I had gotten out of the Christmas decorations box. We went to his room and he told me that "This one is the Mommy penguin, this is the Daddy penguin." And he set them on his shelf. Then he said, "While I do quiet time they will lay their egg." Then he told me when he got done with quiet time, "They laid their egg! The baby is so cute, it can't walk yet." Such an active imagination.

Several weeks ago we were playing blocks. First Nathaniel pretended that we built the city of Jericho, then we marched around 7 times and knocked it down. After that he picked up a block and said, "This one is Jesus. He's getting in his Corvette and driving to heaven." Then he moved the block over to where Annie was. (That was heaven). Picture below. I don't remember what the other block was. I told Will about it when he got home. Will questioned Nathaniel as to if Jesus drove a Corvette or something even faster.

And yesterday when I picked him up at school, his teachers told me that he was the only one in class to know the name of the angel (Gabriel) in the Christmas story. He is such a smart kiddo and so fun to be around. He constantly tells me how much he loves me and is in general such a sweet kid. One of his friends came over to play and he told his friend how much he loved him. I hope this sweetness lasts forever . . .

Looking like Fall

Our trees were so pretty, I had to get a few shots this morning.

Annie lounging in the fall sunlight. :)

Thanksgiving and Camping

We had a non-traditional Thanksgiving lunch this year. Our good friends the Borcks came over and we cooked brisket tacos. Nathaniel was a little upset about not having turkey and ham, but I think he just wanted it because they had talked about it so much at school. They had a Thanksgiving feast at school and he didn't eat the turkey or ham, so I had no guilt. And he was totally happy with our lunch. After lunch we decorated our Christmas tree.

He crashed from all the Thanksgiving fun on the way to the campsite

Looking at some purple berries.

I tried to get a view of the lake, it didn't show up too well.

Goofballs. :)

Someone is copying Will in this pose.

We did a 4-mile hike Saturday morning. The whole way back from the spillway Nathaniel held his Daddy's hand and kept walking. He had a great time and didn't even complain of being tired.

And we were just a little tired after camping. :)
