Potty Success!

This morning I went to pick up Nathaniel from his Bible class and they asked if I was potty-training him.
Me: "Nooo . . .? "

His teachers: "Well, he peed on the potty today."

Me: "What!?"

Note: He has a girlfriend that's a little older than him in there, and she pees in the potty. So Nathaniel really wanted to go also. They let him sit on there and he peed! I couldn't believe it.

They asked me what Nathaniel had been signing, and it was the sign for potty. Nathaniel showed a little interest this summer, so I bought the potty seat since I knew we would need it eventually. We have sat on the potty several times, with nothing happening. And we haven't done it recently. Apparently the practice paid off, I just can't believe I missed it!

So, I still don't have any real plans to potty train him, unless he wants to or pushes it. It just shows that when he puts his mind to something, he does it.

Will's Birthday Rain

Sunday was Will's birthday! We went out to eat breakfast, then hit the park to play for a bit before church. We had nice cool weather, and were enjoying the clouds. All of a sudden, it started pouring rain on us (which was fantastic since we're in such a drought). However, we got pretty soaked. We took shelter under a pavilion, but decided to let Nathaniel play in the rain some more (since he wanted to). He was so excited. He stomped in the puddles, twirled around and got absolutely soaked. I wish we had pictures, but I am recording it so that we have the memory. I had an extra outfit, so we changed him and took him in to church. Unfortunately, I had to send him in to church without socks and shoes (they were too wet). But he had a terrific time!

Happy 34th Birthday Will!

What happened to Dad

This happened last Sunday when I ran downstairs to get something before church. I told Will I was running downstairs, and he said okay. When I came back up, I noticed this - Will was shocked at what had happened in just a minute or so. Nathaniel had grabbed the paper towels off of the kitchen counter and done this while Will was fixing something in the living room (he's just to the left of the green bucket). I couldn't stop laughing and got these hilarious shots.

Too funny!

Labor Day Fun

We had a very relaxing Labor Day! Some friends came over for grilling and playing. Here are some good shots of Nathaniel and friends. However, I didn't get good shots of everyone - there was just too much going on.

Nathaniel and Izzy in the bucket.

Now Berit is joining in the bucket!

New Leggo Table

Will found this leggo table on sale for only $25. It was used, but has been one of the best purchases ever. Unfortunately Nathaniel climbed up on top of the table this day. I told him he had to get down, that he would hurt himself (after I snapped a few shots).

Notice he is also clutching his favorite wooden trains. :) He likes to hold all 3 at once.

Addendum to First Day of School

I went to pick Nathaniel up, and was so excited to see him. I usually always get a big bear hug and kiss. Today he just gave me a look - and signed for help with the dump truck he was playing with. I helped him turn the truck right-side up, then got a kiss. All of his other classmates were asleep during nap/quiet time. They of course could not get Nathaniel to settle down and nap, so he had complete control of all toys. After talking with his teachers (who went on and on about how smart he was) I got his backpack and told him we were going home. He started signing that he wanted to keep playing. So I had to pick him up, kicking and screaming, and carry him out.
I guess the first day was a success!

First Day of School

Well, I think the first day is going to be harder on me. We had wonderful weather for the first day - actually felt cooler and a little like fall! Here are some pictures from the first day. I tried to get a picture of Nathaniel with his lunch box and backpack, but he just wanted to look at the flowers instead. They aren't very good because I was holding my purse, his lunchbox and backpack and trying to take pictures all at the same time. :)

Nathaniel with his friend Evan.

These are just probably the first in a lot of shots where I will embarrass him - I was keeping him from the dump truck. :)
